Question by Brad: There are at least 40 reasons why we need to ban guns now. Why won’t our leaders do so?
1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, Detroit & Chicago cops need guns.
2. Washington DC’s low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis’s high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.
3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are “just statistics.”
4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991.
5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.
6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals.
7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.
8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.
9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should “put up no defense – give them what they want, or run” (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don’t Die – People Do, 1981, p. 125).
10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery.
11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seat belts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.
12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917.
13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a “state” militia.

20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.
21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20.
22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is “an accident waiting to happen” and gun makers’ advertisements aimed at women are “preying on their fears.”

Of course not. There is no reason for the government to ban any voluntary activity that does not harm anyone else. Owning, possessing and safely using a gun doesn’t harm anyone else.

Who – we have VERY strict laws about who can purchase and possess them. They’re just rarely enforced. Even in MA, a firearms violation is supposed to get you an automatic year in prison – one person has done that year, ever.

Pasting from Wikipedia about the helicopter:

• • • • •

The AH-1 Cobra (company designation: Bell 209) is a two-bladed, single engine attack helicopter manufactured by Bell. It shares a common engine, transmission and rotor system with the older UH-1 Iroquois. The AH-1 is also referred to as the HueyCobra or Snake.
The AH-1 was the backbone of the United States Army‘s attack helicopter fleet, but has been replaced by the AH-64 Apache in Army service. Upgraded versions continue to fly with the militaries of several other nations. The AH-1 twin engine versions remain in service with United States Marine Corps as the service’s primary attack helicopter. Surplus AH-1 helicopters have been converted for fighting forest fires. The United States Forest Service refers to their program as the Firewatch Cobra. Garlick Helicopters also converts surplus AH-1s for forest firefighting under the name, FireSnake.[2]

The Bell AH-1 SuperCobra is a twin-engine attack helicopter based on the US Army’s AH-1 Cobra. The twin Cobra family includes the AH-1J SeaCobra, the AH-1T Improved SeaCobra, and the AH-1W SuperCobra. The AH-1W is the backbone of the United States Marine Corps‘s attack helicopter fleet, but will be replaced in service by the AH-1Z Viper upgrade in the next decade.

36. Citizens don’t need to carry a gun for personal protection but police
chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with
cops, need a gun.

37. “Assault weapons” have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of
people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.

38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential
promotion, that’s bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to
buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that’s good.

39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for
defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their
duty weapon.

Strangely, I personally knew three people who were murdered. I mean people I often talked to. Two of them were stabbed to death, the other was bludgened to death.

Lighting Test done to determine usefulness of surplus Whelen strobe equipment for picture vehicles. Whelen strobe equipment allows you to generate different strobe patterns which look very impressive to the naked eye, but as you can see from the video, the individual flashes can (and do) get missed by the camera at the frame rate of film (24 fps) and video (30 fps), which means your emergency lighting only looks good in the parking-lot and not on film. You can see the halogen lights are ‘slow’ enough on the ambulance and police vehicles to be caught at every frame – but in some parts of the video the strobes on the police vehicles (mirror mounts, headlight and taillight mounts and lightbar) almost appear to be off despite the fact they are indeed regularly and brightly flashing at a rate easily seen with the naked eye. Compare and contrast this video with our “SFPD Ford Crown Victoria Police Cars” one and see the difference.

America has just been brainwashed to believe that it needs to raise taxes to pay for more things.
You can lower taxes, and raise social spending, while balancing the budget, if you know what you are doing.

I am pro-choice for abortion and still believe in strong family values. those are my choices and beliefs.

Question by shatnerpossum: 40 reasons for gun control?
1. Banning guns works, which is why New York , DC , & Chicago cops need guns.

2. Washington DC ‘s low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis ‘ high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.

9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should “put up no defense — give them what they want, or run” (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don’t Die – People Do, 1981, p.125).

10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery.

11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.

14. These phrases: “right of the people peaceably to assemble,” “right of the people to be secure in their homes,” “enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people,” and “The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people” all refer to individuals, but “the right of the people to keep and bear arm” refers to the state.

15. “The Constitution is strong and will never change.” But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution.

16. Rifles and handguns aren’t necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them.

17. Private citizens shouldn’t have handguns, because they aren’t “military weapons”, but private citizens shouldn’t have “assault rifles”, because they are military weapons.

18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, finger printing, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940′s, 1950′s and1960′s, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings.

19. The NRA’s attempt to run a “don’t touch” campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby’s attempt to run a “don’t touch” campaign is responsible social activity.

23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.

24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows.

25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves.

26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a “weapon of mass destruction” or an “assault weapon.”

27. Most people can’t be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.

29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self-defense only justifies bare hands.

30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution.

31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit.

32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do “civilians” who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition.

33. We should ban “Saturday Night Specials” and other inexpensive guns because it’s not fair that poor people have access to guns too.

34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over hand guns that private citizens can never hope to obtain.

35. Private citizens don’t need a gun for self-protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection.

36. Citizens don’t need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun.

37. “Assault weapons” have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.

38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that’s bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that’s good.

39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon.

40. Handgun Control, Inc. says they want to “keep guns out of the wrong hands.” Guess what? You have the wrong hands.

Healthy P: Maybe it also has to do with the size and legal system of the UK. The UK doesn’t restrict its police the way we do. You have a lot less rights over there. If you actually want to make a persuasive argument, see if you can counter any of the points on this list.

Question by redundent: I have created a semi redundant energy source for transportation. who to contact military or auto engineers?
I have approached a GM rep earlier this year at the GM building in detroit during a audition for a tv show about people who is asking for money for any reason. Any way I had talk to this person and he said to contact the engineer department. There is a trust factor, auto companies they like to rip off new tech from individuals and shaft them and call it there own. The military is just as slick. Remember the guy who made things levitate in his apartment with old surplus electronics. The military came saw and rapped his apartment of everything eventually. The guy didn’t even get paid. What shall I do?
This new energy source is for real. Imagine riding in your vehicle across country from Detroit to Califronia. Need gas? never. Need to recharge at a stationary recharging port ? never. Need snacks, drinks? Yes. This is what can be in the near future with my system called the Sress. It’s a real working small scale prototype. It works like it was projected to work.11 years in the making.

Best answer:

Answer by T R
Sounds wonderful, except that it sounds like one of the many inventions which violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics. There have been others like this, for example the “HHO” gas additive. While the fellow even built a working prototype, he never did an energy balance to show that he was actually getting the energy out that he claimed. He wasn’t.

What should you do? I assume you want to protect your idea, so I say you should research and see if your idea is patented already. If not, patent it. Then get help from an engineer or physicist to review it and see if its workable.

A collection of photos of Jeepneys from the Philippines. Photographed between Oct 2006 to Oct 2007 by David Wendel Robinson. dwrobinson.zenfolio.com Jeepneys are a popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They were originally made from US military jeeps left over from World War II and are well known for their flamboyant decoration and crowded seating. As American troops began left the Philippines at the end of World War II, hundreds of surplus jeeps were sold or given to local Filipinos. Locals stripped down the jeeps to accommodate several passengers, added metal roofs for shade, and decorated the vehicles with vibrant colors and bright chrome hood ornaments. The jeepney rapidly emerged as a popular and creative way to reestablish inexpensive public transportation, which had been virtually destroyed during World War II. Recognizing the wide-spread use of these vehicles, the Philippine government began to place restrictions on their use. Drivers now must have specialized licenses, regular routes, and reasonably fixed fares. Although the original jeepneys were simply refurbished military jeeps, modern jeepneys are now produced by independently owned factories within the Philippines. In the central Philippine island of Cebu, the bulk of jeepneys are built using second-hand Japanese trucks, originally intended for hauling cargo rather than passengers. These are euphemistically known as “surplus” trucks.

This video shows surveillance footage of the Mortar Cycle(Soviets) primary and secondary combat functions. Battlefield reconnaissance has revealed at least these facts about the Mortar Cycle: • The Molotov flurry — Though the mortar cycle takes its name from its heaviest weapon, Soviet sidecar gunners tend to favor using Molotov cocktails for hit-and-run attacks, since this allows them to fight without slowing down. These men seem well-trained at flinging the incendiary bottles while moving, and are clearly more skilled with Molotovs than the typical Soviet conscript. • The porta-mortar — The mortar cycle’s strongest and longest-range weapon requires the vehicle to come to a halt, at which point it can begin lobbing explosive shells with great accuracy. These are all too effective at punching through stationary defenses, though the mortar cycle crews need to make the first shots count. • Furiously fast — Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of the mortar cycle is its top speed. In the hands of a capable driver, a mortar cycle can literally drive circles around enemy forces. Supposedly, in order to practice handling their vehicles at high top speeds (and to lift the spirits of their comrades), mortar cycle drivers often conduct race against Soviet terror drones to see who’s fastest. • Fresh from the barracks — Mortar cycles are the only vehicle small enough to be assembled and maintained in a standard Soviet military barracks. However, a Soviet war factory still must be

Question by tom5251972: penetrating oil?
i got a case of military issue penetrating oil from my grandfathers garage dates 7/48 and another dated 5/56. uncle sam made him a mechanic in n africa during wwii. he used a lot of military surplus materials and vehicles in his garage, my question is since some of this penetrating oil is nearly 60 years old is there anything in it that may be considered harmful to me, ie carcinogenic, that i may be exposed to. also since i have a lifetime supply of the stuff is it safe to use as a lightweight oil/ rust inhibitor?

Best answer:

Answer by halsca
It’s just as safe as any other petroleum product. Still with the stuff being that old I would only use it as a rust inhibitor, there are much better products for use as a lubricant. The stuff you have to watch out for is paint and certain wiring as they’ll contain lead.

Question by Killerkip: What am I ?(no disrespectful answers please)?
I LOVE video games, military surplus, vehicles, driving, have had 3 girlfriends since 5 grade (not at once), and like comics and digital designing/advanced programming….

BUT….

I like to (once in a while) where girls clothes, and walk in them, sit like a girl, and even use the bathroom like a girl……

As far as I know, I am a man with no need for self-esteem, (don’t care much for insults, they just don’t effect me), in the 9th grade, with short hair,(yet 1.8 inch long hair), A and C grades, and an afiniti to collect and maintance game consols and computers……

But I still like to dress like a girl every once in a while..

BUT….

If I was a girl, I’d be a lesbian, cause I still LOVE girls, and I don’t go for a girl unless they are a good person (Strictly), but I have gotten my last GF to stop smoking……

(p.s. please use detail, I am kinda not sure on this subject, just need an honest opinion)

(p.p.s. I have dressed up since I was 4)

JLK2007
My parents don’t (atleast to my knowledge) know about this…..nor do I want to find out…….

(p.s. I want my Dad to be proud of me, although you are going to, and might say, “If he really loves you, he will understand”…..but theres still that “wierd look” I’d get…….
Please email me, Cytex321@yahoo.com

(Only if you can, and will talk to me on this subject, plus, I feel like if I dont tell someone, I will DIE (I am not suicidal).)

(I will NOT offer
I will not offer address (home) or phone number, nor do I want yours….thanks

Nothing is wrong with you, you just have a fetish. Some very heterosexual men are into cross dressing. As long as you are safe about it and your partner is alright with it, I don’t really see what the big deal is. We all have our vices, yours just so happen to be cross dressing.

Good luck!

The onslaught of tough Donald Love missions continue. The concept of this mission is interesting. We are to go into the water and retrieve packages being dropped out of plane before the authorities can intercept them. There are 6 packages dropped by the plane and for each package you pick-up, you gain a star on your wanted level, until get to 5. That’s right, once we’re out of the water, we have to evade a 5 star wanted level, which means the FBI! I docked near Asuka’s place, so naturally I had cars nearby. Now, when we get the car sprayed, make sure an FBI Car is there with you and try to get the FBI to exit the vehicle. When you spray the vehicle, those same FBI agents will simply walk away, leaving the car behind. It didn’t go so smoothly in this video, but you can see the point I make. It can be done better if they just leave, but I had to force the issue. This is the only real easy way to get the FBI Car otherwise because the FBI agents carry AK’s and they carry 4 instead of 2 like the cops. Hopefully this hint is helpful for those trying to get one for the Emergency Vehicles Crane. The Rhino and Barracks OL can be unlocked at Phil’s Army Surplus later without risking the military killing you, making the FBI Car the most difficult to get (which will now be worlds easier). I did go off on a tangent there, but after the FBI Car jacking, simply take the packages back to Mr. Love. Enjoy!

Question by Nick: Where can I buy cheap Military surplus 4×4?
Looking for any type of vehicle, not just a Jeep or a Humvee, as a second car.

Answer by milton b
You seem to be living in 1947. The Army doesn’t have jeeps anymore and a humvee is just to valuable to be sold surplus, they rebuild those things and keep them running until the frame rusts out.

Forget the Family Guy, you too can buy a working tank and take control of your life. Perhaps your daughter can take it to school? Gotta a “Meg”?

The bigger items of surplus military like vehicles, trailers, mobile kitchens etc are typically sold at auction by expert auction teams through out the world. www.armysurplus365.co.uk

Tinty, Unused, OLD NEW Surplus aneroid, made for aircraft instruments. Tiny bellows are just 3/4 inch in diameter. I think they are made of brass or bronze. The bellows increase or decrease in size as the atmospheric pressure changes. Maybe made for altimiter or other pressure instrument in aircraft. Beneath the bellows is a 1/4 inch thick threaded stem, about 3/4 inch long. Looks like the end is soldered for a calibrated leak effect. Also beneath the bellows is the part number, 758632-1 and scr
