Below is a link to a picture of a World War II tank that is on display next to a National Guard armory. I think that it may be an Abrams tank, but I do not know for sure. Does anyone know for sure what model of tank it is? I called the National Guard batallion that oversees the property, but they have not called me back yet, and I have a deadline.

DARPA is creating driverless cars for military, and Congress mandated that 1/3 of vehicles in military to be autonomous by 2015. I'm not saying people should give up driving.
Even though many people like driving, I think the invention of driverless cars is welcome. There should be both because there are many who like driving, and others prefer to relax while being chaufeuered.

Despite having full qualifications in mathematics and chemistry from uni in Dubai and explosives training in Afghanistan, they did not seem too eager for me to work for them, when I visited their application office at the Army headquarters.
Like, I tried out in the explosives specialist unit, but after doing a full check of my background and previous occupations, they said I was 'not suitable', even though I'd made it clear to them that I had a lot of past experiences in dealing with explosives [this might have even made them more unsure].
I think they were automatically suspicious of me anyway, especially afterwards I was escorted out of the building by 6 armed guards and there were also 2 FBI vehicles waiting outside.
After being forced a full vehicle + body check, I was told to leave the complex immediately.
I still don't understand exactly why they rejected me.
Here's a photo of me:

I have a RCF-67 seatbelt in a 91 Buick Park Avenue that does not always stay secured. I have read about quite a few cases that this has been a safety concern for this belt. Some sites discussed a demand for a government recall but I cannot find if there has been one.

Internal investigators found an Obama 08 bumper sticker on his vehicle and a picture of Obama hung on his wall in a shrine like arrangement. Like all liberals he did not support either the Iraq or Afghanistan missions.

Ok, friends here are the facts. Husband is trying to join the Army. He is 40 & they have moved the age up to 42. Back in his dumb youthful days he made a few mistakes. Now, before you judge try to hear me out.
First crime, he was in downtown Atlanta back in 1988 with some friends. Their car broke down & he made the mistake of riding with someone that had stolen a vehicle, but they feared for their lives because they were lost in downtown Atlanta & it can be dangerous. No excuse, I know. He payed the fine and completed probation.
There were 2 DUIs, but they can only find record of one. He has 55 college hours. He has not had a record since then & is an honest citizen.
He scored high on the Asvab & is good shape. All of these things happened 20 years ago & he is a hard working guy. Can he forget about it? The recruiter says it will take time, but there is still a chance. Didn't we all do stupid things when we were young? ( ok,maybe not THAT stupid)

The 401k as a savings vehicle is being sold to the general public as being preferable over a pension because it's portable. However, many people simply cash out of their accounts when they leave their jobs thus eliminating any benefit from the plan whatsoever. Should the government eliminate that as an option and require a rollover distribution under those circumstances? I'm not saying eliminate hardship withdrawals but regular cash-out distributions.
I'm not talking about eliminating distributions after age 55...just the early distribution option.

My friend has had her family ripped apart. Her youngest son was seriously hurt in a car accident about 3 years ago. Her oldest son was brought home from the Gulf War to help her get through everything that had to be done. She is divorced and her ex is.... her ex. About a year after her youngest was hurt, her oldest was killed in a military vehicle accident. She has been overwhelmed with grief and depression. I am looking for someone that might be able to help her get her feet back on the ground and give her son a better life then living in a rehabilitation center where he does not get enough attention.

Karl Marx detailed the 10 essential tenets of communism, namely:
Central banking system
Government controlled education
Government controlled labor
Government ownership of transportation and communication vehicles
Government ownership of agricultural means and factories
Total abolition of private property
Property rights confiscation
Heavy income tax on everyone
Elimination of rights of inheritance
Regional planning
It looks like we already have 6 of these well in place. And a new administration that is working overtime to implement a few others.
For those that answered this is conservative propaganda, I copied those tenets directly from a Marx website. How would you interpret them??

How much of a car will I be approved for?
Im trying to determine a ballpark figure of how much I would be approved for on an auto loan. If I can wait 2 more months, 2 credit inquiries fall off my report. My credit score should then rise to 690 (experian), so we can use that as a starting point. I am a 22 y/o male that has been in the U.S. Army for almost 5 years, and plan to continue. I have had about 8 loans throughout my credit history. The largest was k. I have 2 major credit cards with limits at 4.5k and 3.5k. Don't carry a balance though. I have zero debt. My only bills consist of a cable bill and phone which are of course always paid on time. I do not want to use a cosigner, but am prepared to pay a down payment, possibly up to 00 or more depending on what type of vehicle it is. My ultimate goal would be to get about a K auto loan. I also own a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja (no payments-I own) with a bluebook about 6k, have about 12k in savings, and own a property worth about 20K. I don't know if the all this makes a lender more likely to loan a large sum or not. Thanks for all your feedback on my dilemma.

North American car manufactures like General Motors and Ford are facing some difficult times. Our two countries import a lot of foreign made vehicles but those countries like Japan for instance hardly import any of ours.
So much of our economy relies on the automotive industry. Should the government do more to help its own industries?
General Motors has to pay more out for its employees than another company in the United States. What happens if they go under? GM will pass that burden on to the Federal Government and I think that's what is coming.
Some of you have referred to North American built cars as inferior. I call vehicle like KIA inferior. They are some of the worst built vehicles out there.
Build fewer SUV's? SUV's sell! Why would you want to take away something that the buying publc wants?

East put together. If so, then why the heck aren't we drilling for it. We need to stop sending our money to countries that sponsor terrorism.
The ultimate irony is that the fuel that is used to power American military vehicles comes from countries that sponsor the very people we are fighting, think about that

Okay I know for a fact I am going to join the Army ( try to at least). But there are so many choices to choose from it's ridiculous. One day I have my mind fixed on one job, then the next week, I want a totally different job. I can't make up my mind. I have been thinking of Cavalry Scout, Military Police, M1A1/2 Abrams Crew Member, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator, and Driver...My mind seems to be shuffling through that list of jobs... I want a job that I can be proud of, something that I can look back on 10 years later, and be glad I did. But I can't seem to make up my mind, can you guys give me some ideas?
wraeth-PHA would you consider me going in as 19D? That is the one I am thinking of doing right now, but that is most likely gonna change in about a week haha.

Looking for a newer car at a cheap rate. Was told that going to government auctions or banks for repossessed vehicles is the best way to go. Is this risky and would i be getting a quality / reliable vehicle?

US Army vehicle philosophy in recent years seems to be shifting from heavily armoured vehicles like the M1 tanks to woefully underarmoured vehicles like the Stryker 8x8 series and soon the Future Combat Systems manned vehicles. Both systems are supposed to rely on speed and surprise rather than armour (of which they have little) to survive, yet events in Iraq and elsewhere prove the exact opposite, that there will still be a need for heavy armour. Yet the US Army (or rather the Defense Department) seems to be pressing on with ordering more Strykers (without any improvement other than the less-than-effective slat screens), and in all likelihood the current plans for the FCS manned vehicles (which are incapable of surviving their own 105mm cannons) will be frozen as they are.
Is the shift away from heavy armour a good thing...or will we just be seeing more bodybags in future conflicts as a result of this change in vehicle philosophy?
To StaffSergeant C...I know the supposed advantage of being faster and more agile. Speed factors well in open terrain combat, but remember that many people predict the next wars will likely be urban/jungle-type battlefields. In these battles you can't dodge what you can't see...namely IEDs and close-in RPG strikes...and in cities and forests there is little room for dodging, even for vehicles like the Stryker. Thus you can say that you're likely gonna get hit even more in urban/forest battlefields than in your traditional desert field battles...with the kind of armour they put in the Strykers and the FCS...well I wouldnt wanna be the poor guys driving those vehicles (like Jeepdriver's son).
To gregory_dittman, yeah I heard about the Trophy system. Its supposed to be a sort of CIWS system for tanks. And yeah it sucks that these bastards in the Department of Defense are bogged in big business rather than giving the best for the Yank troopers.

I AM ASTONISHED TO SEE THAT ON A INCIDENT OF DOG BITING ONE BOY IN BANGLORE THE GOVERNMENT ORDERED KILLING OF ALL THE DOGS IN BANLORE. IS IT JUSTIFIED. MAN USE TO KILL ANIMALS DOES THE GOVERNMENT IS PUNISHING THE PEOPLE. MOST IMPORTANT IF WE THINK WE GOT JUSTICE BE KILLING THE DOGS. THE TWO DOGS ONLY HAVE TO BE KILLED IF PROVED. THEREARE SEVERAL CASES WHERE PEOPLE WERE KILLED BY THE VEHICLES. DOES THE GOVERNMENT IS KILLING RESPONSIBLE PERSON FOR ACCIDENT. OR BANED THE VEHICLES. IT IIS TOTALLY WORST ON THE GOVERNMENT TO PASS THE ORDER FOR THE KILLING OF DOGS. WE ARE HAVING SAME LAW FOR ALL. IF THEGOVT WORK HARDER ON GARBAGEMANAGEMENT WE DONT HAVE TO BOTHER ABOUT THE STREET DOGS. THIS ISNOT THE FIRST TIME THAT DOG BITE PEOPLE. ITS AN NATURAL ACT. IT HAPPENS. THE ATTITUDE OF THE GOVT IS NOT GOOD. IF THE GOVT WANT TO BE FAIR THEY SHOULD SHOOTDOWN ALL THE PERSONS WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR DOG KILLING.

If I have more than 0,000 in stocks, cash and mutual funds with one brokerage house, should I look to move some of these positions to another brokerage house in case of bankruptcy by current firm?
